माँ का जन्म 2 अप्रैल 1948 को शीतला अष्टमी के दिन हुआ। बचपन में उनका नाम किरण रखा गया। परिवार मध्य प्रदेश के नागोद की राजपरिवार-परंपरा से जुड़ा था। पिता कुमार सुरेन्द्र सिंह पुलिस विभाग में DIG थे, इसलिए बचपन में कई शहरों में रहना हुआ - विदिशा, इंदौर, उज्जैन, ग्वालियर।

बचपन से ही उन्हें एकांत, पढ़ाई और सादगी प्रिय थी। गहनों और सुख-सुविधाओं के प्रति उनमें सहज अरुचि थी।

Maa was born on 2 April 1948, on Sheetla Ashtami, and was named Kiran as a child. Her family belonged to the royal house of Nagod in Madhya Pradesh. Her father, Kumar Surendra Singh, served as a DIG in the police, so the family moved often - Vidisha, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior.

From early on she preferred solitude, books and simplicity, and had a natural distaste for ornaments and comforts.

उनकी स्कूली शिक्षा ग्वालियर के पद्मा विद्यालय में हुई। किशोरावस्था में स्वामी विवेकानन्द की रचनाएँ - राजयोग, भक्तियोग, कर्मयोग और गीता पर उनकी व्याख्या - उनकी पहली आध्यात्मिक प्रेरणा बनीं।

घर में संतों का आना-जाना था। 1957 के उज्जैन कुम्भ के समय स्वामी अभयानन्द सरस्वती उनके घर पधारे थे।

She studied at Padma Vidyalaya in Gwalior. As a teenager, the writings of Swami Vivekananda - Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga and his commentary on the Gītā - became her first spiritual inspiration.

Saints regularly visited her home. During the Ujjain Kumbh of 1957, Swami Abhayanand Saraswati stayed with the family.

विवाह के बाद वे मुंबई में रहीं। स्वामी चिन्मयानन्द के भारतीय विद्या भवन के प्रवचनों से उन्हें आदि शंकराचार्य के अद्वैत का परिचय मिला। परिवार की ज़िम्मेदारियों के बीच उन्होंने संस्कृत, गीता, उपनिषद् और ब्रह्मसूत्र का नियमित अध्ययन किया।

After her marriage she lived in Mumbai. Swami Chinmayananda’s discourses at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan introduced her to the Advaita of Adi Shankaracharya. Alongside her family duties she studied Sanskrit, the Gītā, the Upaniṣads and the Brahmasūtra with regularity.

मुंबई में ही उन्होंने स्वामी अखण्डानन्द सरस्वती के वेदान्त-प्रवचन सुने। मार्गदर्शन के लिए उन्होंने उन्हें एक पत्र लिखा, और महाराजश्री से उनकी पहली भेंट हुई।

It was in Mumbai that she first heard the Vedanta discourses of Swami Akhandanand Saraswati. She wrote to him seeking guidance, and met Maharajshree for the first time.

1982 में वे एकांत साधना के लिए कुमाऊँ हिमालय के नारायण आश्रम गईं। पिथौरागढ़ और तवाघाट होते हुए पहुँचा गया। आश्रम के शांत वातावरण में उन्होंने मौन और साधना में समय बिताया।

In 1982 she went to the Narayan Ashram in the Kumaon Himalaya for solitary sadhana, travelling by way of Pithoragarh and Tawaghat. In the quiet of the ashram she spent her days in silence and practice.

हिमालय से लौटते समय वे अपने भाई के साथ मथुरा होकर वृन्दावन पहुँचीं और स्वामी अखण्डानन्द सरस्वती से मिलीं। महाराजश्री ने उन्हें अपनी पुत्री के रूप में स्वीकार किया, मंत्र और ध्यान की सरल विधि दी, और कहा कि घर लौटकर सच्चे साधु की तरह रहो।

उन्होंने उनसे कहा था: “मैं सदा विचार के रूप में तुम्हारे साथ रहूँगा।”

On her way back from the Himalaya she travelled with her brother through Mathura to Vrindavan and met Swami Akhandanand Saraswati. Maharajshree accepted her as his daughter, gave her a mantra and a simple method of meditation, and told her to return home and live like a true sadhu.

He once assured her: “I shall always dwell with you in the form of Vichara - Supreme Thoughts.”

आज माँ के प्रवचन ब्रह्मसूत्र (अध्यास भाष्य), श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता, माण्डूक्यकारिका, कठोपनिषद्, अजातवाद और एक जीव वाद पर उपलब्ध हैं - प्रयागराज कुम्भ 2025, हरिद्वार कुम्भ 2021 और एकात्म पर्व जैसे आयोजनों से, और वर्षों की शृंखलाओं में। गुरुदेव की शिक्षा ही उनके प्रवचनों में गूँजती है।

Today her discourses are available on the Brahmasūtra (Adhyāsa Bhāṣya), the Bhagavad Gītā, the Māṇḍūkya Kārikā, the Kaṭha Upaniṣad, Ajātavāda and Eka Jīva Vāda - from occasions such as the Prayagraj Kumbh 2025, the Haridwar Kumbh 2021 and Ekatma Parva, and across years-long series. Her discourses echo the teaching of her Gurudev.
